The G260 Alder is the most traditional model in the G Series lineup. Featuring alder instead of basswood for body wood and rounder body edge radius, the G260 Alder embodies the classic 60’s vibe and sound with a more modern design and hardware. With a versatile H-S-S pickup configuration, Wilkinson VS50II tremolo bridge, TUSQ nut and a flatter 12” fretboard radius, the G260 Alder also provides the practicality, tuning stability, and flexibility that modern musicians require. If you are a traditionalist who value modern functionality, the G260 Alder has all of the bases covered and then some. Based on the classic double-cutaway shape, the G260 Alder’s offset body line and extended horns give it a more modern look that is sleek but still retains the familiarity of the vintage designs with the rounder body-edge radius. Alder is the classic 60’s tonewood that has stood the test of time with its firm and punchy yet round and warm sonic character. Besides its status as classic body wood for single-coil pickups, it also works exceptionally well with humbuckers, making it one of the most versatile body woods for bolt-on solid-body electric guitars. The heart of the G260 Alder is its versatile H-S-S pickup configuration featuring Cort’s own Voiced Tone pickups. The humbucker in the bridge position provides classic rock crunch and thick singing lead sounds while the single-coils provide plenty of chime and sparkle for clean rhythm work as well as throaty lead sounds that defined rock and pop music of the past five decades. Designed from the ground up by Cort’s engineers who are also passionate musicians, the VTS-63 single-coil pickups and VTH-59 humbucker pay tribute to the great sounds that the pickups of the early-60’s and late-50’s. Painstakingly engineered and fine-tuned with input from many world-class artists and musicians, the VTS-63 features Alnico V magnets and 42AWG Formvar insulation coil for a clear sparkling high-end that is also smooth and sweet to the ears. The VTH-59 features Alnico II bar magnet, unique AWG43 insulation coil and German silver baseplate for an authentic late-50’s humbucker sound that is at once raunchy, powerful, dynamic and rich depending on how the guitar’s volume pot is set and the player’s pick attack. The tone knob also functions as a push-pull potentiometer that splits the bridge humbucker to get both the powerful and warm humbucker sound and the bright and clear single-coil sound. Combine the split humbucker sound with the middle single-coil pickup for even more useful sounds to cover a wide variety of musical genres. The G260 Alder comes equipped with the two-point fulcrum Wilkinson VS50II tremolo system that is highly regarded in the industry for its performance, sound and tuning stability. Set to float slightly above the body surface, this allows for slight arm pull-ups for greater range and subtle vibrato usage. Designed and engineered meticulously by Cort’s engineers, the Cort locking tuners facilitate quick string changes as well as superb tuning stability. Graph Tech is a world-renowned manufacturer of top quality guitar components and the Black TUSQ is one such part that is critical to a guitar’s sound and performance.
