Rode Wireless Micro Lightning — Ultra-Compact Wireless Mic for iPhone

The Rode Wireless Micro Lightning is a pocket-sized wireless microphone system for smartphone creators who want clean, professional audio without cable clutter. The Lightning receiver plugs directly into an iPhone or iPad, while two clip-on transmitters with built-in microphones capture speech from up to 100 m away. Intelligent GainAssist balances audio levels automatically.

Patent-Pending Acoustic Chamber and Bluetooth Flexibility

What sets this system apart is its patent-pending acoustic chamber design, purpose-built to capture clear audio while mitigating wind noise and plosives. The transmitters also support direct Bluetooth pairing with iPhones through the RØDE Capture app, allowing recording without the receiver.

Transmitter Capsules and Mounting Options

Built-in electret-condenser capsules with an omnidirectional polar pattern let the two clip-on transmitters pick up voices consistently, even when the subject turns their head. Each unit weighs 12 g without the magnet and 18 g with it.

• Polar Pattern: Omnidirectional — consistent pickup from any angle
• Transmitter Weight: 12 g (without magnet), 18 g (with magnet)
• Mounting: Integrated clip plus magnetic attachment for discreet placement

Lightning Receiver and Wireless Transmission

Drawing bus power directly from the iOS device, the Lightning receiver eliminates the need for cables or separate charging. Wireless transmission runs on the 2.4 GHz digital band with a maximum operating range of 100 m and 135 dB maximum SPL handling.

• Wireless Technology: Digital 2.4 GHz — license-free operation worldwide
• Max Operating Range: 100 m
• Frequency Response: 20 Hz – 20 kHz
• Maximum SPL: 135 dB — handles loud sources without distortion

Battery Life and Charging Case

Each transmitter runs for 7 hours on its built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and the included charging case adds two full charges for up to 21 hours of total operating time. The case recharges via USB-C in approximately 3 hours.

• Transmitter Battery Life: 7 hours per charge
• Total Operating Time: 21 hours with charging case (2 additional charges)
• Charging Case Battery: 490 mAh
• Charging Input: USB-C
