Ševčík's Opus 2 is one of the key works of violin pedagogical literature. It focuses on the basic problems of the right hand technique, which Ševčík practices in systematically arranged 4,000 variants of all skids. Ševčík's famous method of thorough practice of the right hand is still used and appreciated by players of other string instruments.
The author of the adaptation of the School of String Techniques for Cello Tomáš Jamník, a prominent Czech cellist living in Berlin, respects the differences in the difficulty of playing in individual positions for violinists and cellists and transcribes individual exercises into cello positions so that Ševčík's original pedagogical intention is not lost. This is fundamentally different from the only known adaptation of this cello opus by Louis R. Feuillard.
